Unfortunately, I just spent the last two days polishing and removing debris and rust from my threads with a toothbrush. (I'm going overboard prepping my frame for the new components). The old bottom bracket is full of rust. That being said, this AM I attempted to reinstall in the old bottom bracket but backed off once it started giving me signs of resistance (I paid a local shop had to remove one of my cups). It took me about 2 hours to undo what I did in 2 hours by trying to screw in a rusty bracket cup. There's a Wallmart type place not too far from where I'm situated that has loads of budget bike parts, including generic bottom brackets with different spindle lengths - I'll give that a shot.
