Even if you manage to pack a 10-speed hub in that frame, shifting just one-gear-at-a-time could be a real challenge with friction bar ends. If she is riding a mixte with moustache bars I doubt that she will need that competitive edge that even an indexed 10-speed set up could afford. Better to stick with 5 speeds she can use and make sure it has the full range she needs . Spend your money instead on better rims, tires and a saddle.
