Here is the final build up of my 1986 Tommasini racing bike. I’m the original owner and ordered this back in my USCF racing days. MANY training and racing miles and triathlons on this frame, and I know I’ve ridden it faster than I will ever ride a bike again.

After many years of living in the attic, while I went through a series of Cervelos, Cannondales, and Trek Madones, it’s come full circle and as of the last couple months is my primary road bike, except with all modern components. Forgive the Aero Bars, but I’ll be doing an Ironman triathlon later in the year and THIS will be my ride for that. (I’ve done 5 ironmans in the past, but this is my first time after 6 years away from tri)

The Old School Parts:
• ’86 Tommasini Frame Columbus SL tubing
• Original Tommasini Steel AIR Fork
• Original Cinelli Stem
• Original Cinelli Bars

The Modern Parts:
• Campagnolo Record 10 Carbon Brakes/Shifters
• Campagnolo Record Carbon Rear Derailleur
• Campagnolo Record 10 Front Derailleur
• FSA Carbon Pro Compact Crank
• Scott Brakes
• Carbon Seatpost
• Selle Italia SLR Team Saddle
• Wheels: Campagnolo Zonda with Continental GP4000 or Carbon Clincher 50mm deep with Vitoria Zaffiro Pro.

I actually sold this frame on Ebay early in the year, after riding it as a single speed and deciding I didn’t care for that setup. The buyer returned it because of paint chips and surface rust in a couple places (which I had clearly noted twice in the auction and in a dozen photos). I was SO glad to get it back, that I decided to build it up and see how it compared to my Cannondale Six13. My Strava times are basically the same on all the courses I’ve ridden, the Tommasini fits me better, rides more comfortable and I enjoy riding it more.
