you say your leg alignment is wonky? is this leg shorter then the other? if so, saddle height should be set for the long leg and the other one (the short one) needs some kind of shim or insole to promote proper alignment. concerning the shimano crankset, its a good one. i not sure where it falls in the group hierarchy but it looks like the 105 rings. ive got that same and crank also.
It's just alignment, not length. Both PT and a chiropracter previously have checked that.
Yes, existing R553 crankset appears to be a non-named 105, which is just fine for me (bike is almost entirely 105 stock from Trek). Hard part is getting just the cranks or at least compatible cranks in a 170 length to continue working on knee issues that are limiting my time/distance riding my bike.
