I've read that I should avoid the new XT rear hubs, but are there any others? Are there particular ones that I should look for? Or will basically any year of 135mm rear and 100mm front XT/LX hub be a solid platform for a touring wheelset?

I'm thinking of pairing these with the AlexRims Adventurer rims for a reliable, but budget friendly wheel-set.

And just to make sure, I do have a basically unused ~2000ish Alivio Parallax with silky smooth bearings shown here that I shouldn't use because it might not be strong enough or something of that nature, correct?
