The 2013 Tour de Melon is in the record books, but no records set today by us. I rode with my 13 y/o grandson (his second organized ride) and he managed 28 miles.
Saw Sue at the start and she passed us a short time later as we headed north.
We rode almost half way to Trenton and my grandson wanted to turn around so we headed west to the bridge over the Suwannee. Rested there fr 15-20 minutes. Then headed back to Chiefland. Sue caught up with us when we were 5-6 miles from Chiefland and then she took off. We caught up with her a few minutes later. She was repairing a flat. After she got the wheel back on the bike we all rode together back to town.
I think everyone had a good time --- except my grandson. When we were less about 6-7 miles from the finish he told me his hands hurt, his arms hurt, his shoulders hurt, his neck hurt, his legs hurt, his feet hurt, and his knees really hurt.
Gotta get that kid out on the bike more often!!
