If you're all over the place with a 50, changing to a 52 isn't going to change that. It's a 4% change which is about half a gear. As for going faster with higher gearing it's not so easy to put out 4% extra power just because your gearing changes. If you're spinning out a 50x11, a few high cadence workouts could easily fix that.
