Wheels are a really important place to look. I can't say what brands to be looking for, but when you start to zero in on a bike, do some research on the wheels and tires supplied with it. That is a place where lots of money can be saved by the OEM. You want to get good, light wheels.
This is definitely where people are "ripped off" on bike specs. People look to the group set first when wheels and tires will matter so much more for speed and ride quality.
I'd rather have Shimano 105 and Mavic Ksyrium SLS than Dura-Ace and Mavic CXP 22.
