After about a month of research I just bought a Raleigh Misceo 2.0 and LOVE it! It MSRPs for $550, sells for $499 everywhere, but I was able to get mine through REI at 15% off and Raleigh even had a $50 main in rebate, so I ended up paying $375 before tax (though I think it's a great bike even at $499). I've had it for a week and have put about 20 miles on it so far - it's very smooth on flat surfaces but takes bumps really well. Good luck with your search!
