After 3 years with no bike commute, I've switched jobs and with the change, I can now bike to work again!
My new commute is from the Upper West Side of Manhattan to Midtown East, close to Grand Central Station. Tried out the commute last Thursday. So far, so good.
I need to find a safe and fun route. On the way to work, I took the Central Park loop to Central Park South, then East to 2nd Ave, then South along the 2nd Ave Bike Lane (more like "parking lane for delivery trucks") to my office. On the way home, 45th St. West to 8th Ave to Central Park West.
I get to park in the executive parking lot of my building! Sweet.
Unfortunately, no changing area or shower facility at work. Yeah, I know, it's a very short trip to the office, I should just take it easy and avoid sweating. Not so easy for me, particularly as the summer temps are going to climb. Going to have to work something out.
Anyway, glad to be back on the bike, and back on the commuter forum!
