^ Well, if it makes any difference, I definitely plan to stop and take cover for myself and my bike if I end up in heavy rain(or anything more than very light rain for that matter). The Alivio hub I have does have a rubber seal and is overhauled with Plenty of grease. Hopefully moisture from riding in light rain wouldn't be an issue? I'm more worried about reliability in terms of strength and longevity. I think the only moisture I'd worry about is if people have had moisture issues simply because the hubs are generally inferior in that regard and it happened just from having the bike outside while touring.

Thank you for your advice, though. If I were a bit more strong willed and biked in the rain then it would definitely be something to consider and I'm glad you brought it up.
