If you upload the GPX track to a website (or just your computer), you can get that information. At Connect.Garmin.com, I get both moving and total time (regardless of whether I use my phone with MyTracks or my Garmin GPS).

GPS on your phone should be quite fine as far as accuracy goes. I find when I ride the same route on different days, I get very close total distances, etc.
