Yes, all newer ultraflates 12g or 16g use unthreaded cartridges held in by the cup. But the head itself is threaded, and can accept ANY threaded cartridge since the cup isn't needed.

BTW- if the OP or anyone is interested, I have a bunch of new on card Proflate 16g systems, which take threadless 16g cartridges. (or any threaded cartridge) I'm happy to sell a few @ $15 including postage within the USA.
