Any recommendation or relevant experience?

I'd try calling Aetna or the other major insurance companies. They usually have 30-90 day 'stop-gap' plans for people who are between jobs. Catastrophic care at not outrageous prices.

Keep in mind I have no real idea how being a foreigner affects things. It's like when I lived overseas and people asked me how to get an American Green Card. How the heck would I know? I don't need one...

Anyway, it's a possibility.
