In fact any time you need some info on specs or procedures I recommend entering either sheldonbrown or parktool blog and the name of the part for the most accurate info. Follow that by a Youtube search to see the procedures live.
IIRC from when I was working on my Le Tour (bought new, in 1978), the bottom bracket is English thread with a 120mm or 122mm long spindle. Original parts will be hard to get, but replacing the whole shebang with a cartridge-style BB should be straightforward.
