My wife and I have to get some form of exercise every day, and prefer the bike, and we go stir crazy if we don't. But a good walk will do, also.
Since I am recovering from a heart procedure, and the wife currently has shingles, it limits us a bit. But still, I got over 3 miles of walking in today, (and she got about a mile of walking) and have been doing gentle 20 mile rides other days. I generally rode about 150 miles per week before the procedure, and hope to soon get back to that amount.
What I am really obsessive about is weight lifting. I start feeling like I am getting weaker if I don't get my regular "fix" in a couple or three times per week.
