Bikes: 1974 Huffy 3 speed

I was moving some bikes at the co-op the other day, saw an old Peugeot -- stamped dropout, claw derailleur, saddle decimated. Picked it up and ... wow... what is this?

I expected the bike to weigh like other bikes in this category. My old Fuji Special Road Racer weighed about 29 bounds for example. This one weighed in a less than my modern Bianchi Volpe... probably in the 24-25 pound range. Only thing missing was pedals.

Along with the obviously relaxed geometry, I was suddenly in love.

After a few searches thru online catalogs, I tagged it as a 1978 UO 10. Fairly modern Stronglight crank, downtube shifter, "Cadres Allege" sticker and alloy rims.

I'm guessing the reported weights of 70s UO8s in the 30 pound range is lightened immensely if parts are upgraded, particularly the cottered crank.
