Now you have given yourself two jobs instead of one. First reassemble the brake caliper. It's important that the two nuts on the front be tightened against each other but still allow the arms to move freely without fore/aft play. Then remove the brake the proper way, from the rear. Afterward you will likely need to center the brake. Considering your approach so far I would recommend you get some in-person help (bike co-op, knowledgeable friend) in getting the brake properly set up.
