Coney Island Velodrome Exhibit. Outdoor movie night, Ride and Lectures - 6/29 & 30

Please join us on the evening of Saturday, June 29th and during the day on Sunday June 30th for a New York City cycling history bonanza!

As a soft opening for 'Strong Backs, Weak Minds - the saga of the Coney Island Velodrome' show at the City Reliquary in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, I am proud to present the following events with the help and support of CR list members

On Saturday evening we will be screening two classic films about six-day racing - Joe E Brown's '6 Day Bike Rider' and 'Open All Night' a scandalous 1924 silent movie set in the swarmy world of the 6 day racer. They will be screened outdoors and refreshments will be available for purchase.

Sunday will feature a ride led by NYC cycling legend Steve 'Pops' Klein to various points of interest for the history of NYC framebuilding, and then a get together with the BVVW (Brooklyn Vintage Velo Wheelmen) gang which will include talks by Dave Perry, Joe Bender-Zanoni and Eddie Albert on various aspects of NYC framebuilding and the race scene in New York and New Jersey during the years the Coney Island Velodrome was operating.

Where: The City Reliquary - 370 Metropolitan Ave Brooklyn, NY 11211

Cost: A donation to the Reliquary is appreciated and will allow them to continue to host events such as this. Like all not for profit institutions, the Reliquary relies on donations to survive.

When: Saturday screening from 8PM - 12AM
Sunday Ride - 10AM till ????
Sunday talks and 'hang out' - 1PM - 5PM.

Trailer for '6 Day Bike Rider' is here.
