There are more of us than you think!
I've seen a comment frequently, and made it myself, that some of us see few (if any) other cyclists on their commute into work. My commute is from the 'burbs into the downtown core, and even on nice days, I'll see only a handful of other commuters.
Well, I work from home some days, but I still like taking a bike ride before starting my work day. This morning, I rode about 2/3 of one of my commute routes, then turned around and came home. On the way out, I passed a couple commuters on a tough little hill, but didn't see anyone else. On the way back, I met close to a dozen in the space of a mile.
So, at the risk of stating something completely obvious and stupid, maybe the reason some of us don't see other commuters is because they're all going the same direction as us! It was a reminder to me that, here in Edmonton at least, though it seems our numbers are few, they are greater than I realized. It's encouraging to see.
