Yes, thanks. I've concluded that the simple pass/fail certification for helmets has resulted in less variety in levels of helmet safety than there should be. However, the existence of the MIPS system suggests that there is some effort to improve the safety of helmets, and I got a MIPS POC Trabec Race for my wife ($200)
and a MIPS Scott Taal for me ($75 -- haven't received it yet).
Since all helmet manufacturers (and purchasers) put such an emphasis on ventilation and weight reduction, few helmets sacrifice these qualities in order to improve safety. The POC does to some extent, but I wasn't willing to spend an additional $200 for my head.
The chances that one of us will fall in just the right way such that the MIPS helmets will make a significant difference are small, but worth the expenditure of $275.
