There is a difference between a fake and a copy:
In the guitar world, every dreadnaught guitar ever made is a copy of a Martin. It does not make them bad.
(It could be argued that some of them are even better than Martins.)

Conversely, the Rolex watches and Gucci handbags commonly purveyed on city street corners are fakes. (Of course, I don't have any data to say if they're better or worse than the originals.)
