I have to replace the my Ital Sport's bottom bracket. The existing bb is a shimano 600 with English thread, 68mm width, 113mm axle.
Ital Sport was stocked with Campy Triomphe components. But I'm guessing that Univega sneaked in Shimano for the bb. Note that the catalog propaganda does not mention bb. Googling Ital Sport bb shows somebody else with an Ital Sport/Shimano bb. And T-Mar pointed out that it's twin, the Miyta 912 had the Shimano 600EX.
The Campy 86 catalog the specs for bb are:
English Thread- 1.37x24
68mm bracket width
109mm axle/spindle
1) I'm wondering if anybody knows for sure whether the Ital Sport was originally stocked with shimano or campy bb.
2) T-Mar- any insights into Univega's mating the Shimano bb with the Campy crank, particularly in light of their supposed/widely publicized incompatablity. And the Campy catalog bb 108mm axle vs the Shimano 113mm?
3) I would very much appreciate recommendations on choosing a brand new sealed bearing bb given these circumstances.
Thanks again for all the helpful info.
