Yeeeeeehaaaaw! Sixty Fiver built up a new set of wheels for my old road bike, and finally got to ride it to work again! This is only the third commute on that bike this year, since on the second one, the rear wheel self-destructed. The new wheels are very nice (thanks Sixty!), and while I'm not enough of a princess to really feel a difference between the old wheels and new ones, I am very happy to be back on the light-weight road bike after hefting around my LHT all season so far.
Unfortunately, I'm feeling quite fatigued - newborn kid isn't letting us sleep much - and it's sapping my energy a bit. Still, I couldn't help myself when I hit a hill just behind another roadie commuter. I hung on his wheel until about halfway up, then he gave me a look that was either, "I can't believe you're keeping up!" or "Will you get off my tail already!" (I'd like to think it was the former, but it was probably the latter). So, I went around him and sprinted the rest of the way up. He must have turned off somewhere behind me, because after that hill, I had nothing left and just poked along the rest of the way, but he never caught up.
