Look, I am not a racer. Been over this before. I am a car free commuter since 1989. I run from, or chase motor vehicles day in and day out in city and suburbia traffic. Cars don't get fatigued. So I have over the years built up a really nice fitness base for relatively short distances (0-5 miles). Instead of entering a race and trying to beat racers at their own game, let them drive in air-conditioned comfort to my world and beat me at my game, if they can.
