Had a real good visit with Danielle and Britt at Primal yesterday. You get a 'feel' when you walk into a cycling-centric place like that. Everyone commutes, everyone goes on the lunch ride, and the place had that fresh jersey smell.
I have forwarded enjoi's design to Primal and am awaiting official word on pricing. The jersey is really a no-brainer - there are three different materials, but the basic material is the signature Primal feel and what my current jerseys are made of. The two elite levels are really unnecessary for our needs as I feel they may price some of us out of the buy.
Regarding size: The Hot Head jersey I posted is definitely an older pattern (2004). They have never made a 'race' cut, but have boiled down their pattern to one, called the 'sport', which is in between club and race. This is what the Old Style jersey is. Sleeves are not loose, fit is tight and overall is closer to race than club cut. At 6'1"/192 (losing it!), I am a solid L at this point.
The bibs may be sticky as there are many different opinions and preferences on this. I'll try to summarize.
There are three materials and three chamois levels. The basic material is a little thicker, but it gave me the impression it would fare well in a crash (not that this is what we should look forward to). The upper two materials were thinner and very supple, but also very strong. Silicone grippers on the leg sleeves.
The chamois: the basic level was nice, and probably better than anything I have ridden, including my favorite, Santini. The middle level was noticeably nicer, but the elite leve chamois looked and felt like a slice of heaven had been placed upon my sit bones. Holy Moses it was nice. It is also expensive. All are Italian.
rpenpmanparker, no worries on the shorts - they can be rolled into the bibs, but will cost the same. I am awaiting confirmation, but I believe I understood that once the Team Site is set up, those who want shorts/bibs can choose their material and chamois so we don't all have to get the same thing. The same may be true with the jerseys.
I am confident we can get this done with the materials I saw. This is not your Nashbar bib, these guys do this and only this. My daughter was with me and is a snowboarder. She asked if they have considered going into that market, and their response was that they do cycling and they do it well, said with no arrogance, but with confidence.
As soon as I get the pricing info, I'll share it here and on the spreadsheet.
