Lords of the Fender....I need some help

So, I picked up a '55 Hetchins frame with the intent on using some parts on hand. I'm convince that the build was for 27" wheels. I fit a set of Bluemel Club Specials and everything fits perfectly.....'cept I think it might look nicer with chrome fenders. The Bluemels measure about 40mm, so I've found Berthoud and Tanaka Stainless steel fenders which are shiny like the chrome on the bike, both are listed 700c x40mm. 1. Am I going to have a problem wrapping them around a 27" wheel and getting a good fenderline?
2. Has anyone used either of these fenders?
