I have not used one while riding, but did compare volume and fidelity across a number of phones, and IMO the HTC One had by far the best volume and fidelity of the ones I tried (iPhone 5, Galaxy S4, and couple of others). IMO, it would work pretty well for listening while riding at a moderate speed (15 mph or less) where it wasn't drowned out by wind noise.
