Is this a bad habit I need to try and break? Am I the only one? I'm not really sure where I picked this up.
It depends on what you mean by "in time." If you're trying to breathe at 90 breaths per minute when you cadence is at 90 revolutions per minute, that's probably bad. If you're breathing in relationship to your cadence in a more metronomic fashion, with a certain number of pedal strokes per breath that varies as your cadence increases or slows, you're probably fine. Getting into a rhythm isn't a bad thing, as long as you're not restricting your oxygen intake.
