I have received a set of wheels built on Velocity A23 rims. Mounting my standard tires (Vredestein TriComp Fortezza's) on them is easily the hardest tire mount I've ever done.

These wheels were built up with Velox rim-tape. I see on Velocity's website that they specifically say that Veloplugs don't work with A23 rims and that low-profile rim tape is "recommended".

Is Velocity's Velotape noticeably thinner than Velox? Any other recommendations as to what might make this process easier?
