Just logic I think. Its an old frame and a used bike. The velocity wheelset go for about 200 on ebay with formula hubs...and I hear those wheels are tough. There are some good new bike options in your price range.

For just around the neighborhood abuse....that is what walmart thrusters are for... $89 rollback price lol.
