I am not Madtown Bob, but I am in Madison. I usually buy on internet or at REI, but there are several good shops too.

This one is near campus, quite small but they have a very good selection of parts and components. I have bought spokes at this one for several wheel builds. No convenient place to park at this one. If you are looking for a 30 year old part, they might have it.

These are more mainstream bike shops with a lot of new bikes. Budget is closest to campus.

If I was looking for a cheap used bike that I could ride around campus and not worry too much about theft, I would go to this one.

There are a few more but I do not really know what you are looking for. Anything specific?
