Not to disagree, Chaadster, but what are cage pedals? I know about rattrap pedals, which are double sided and work well with or without toe clips (the ones that look like cages) and as a design extend back about 100 years, and about quill pedals, which are one sided, have one side that looks like one side of a rattrap sort of, and really don't work consistently without toe clips. Then there are touring and track platforms (not sure the difference is well-defined), intended for toe clips and are useless without their clips and straps. Some of these are IMO supremely comfortable: Lyotard Berthet, Campagnolo C-record and Chorus, and the MKS platforms.

Can you tell I still live in the era of toe clips and straps?

But really, I just want to know what your idea is with that term.
