If congress would mandate that all new motorized gasoline powered vehicles sold in the USA must be able to run 100% alcohol (methanol, ethanol, butanol, et cetera) in addition to gasoline, as in being 100% Flex Fueled, we could cut our CO2 emissions to less than 25% of what it is now within five years. As Roody has mentioned in a previous post, this type of fuel would not add to green house gasses because the plants would be sucking CO2 out of the atmosphere to produce the fuel.
I'm not for alcohol fuel to prevent climate change. I'm for it because it will create an estimated four million jobs in the USA and even better, it will make our air a lot cleaner. When bicyclists are in traffic clogged streets with alcohol fueled vehicles they will only be breathing in 2% of the previous amount of noxious fumes. Alcohol is a very clean burning fuel.
