Yup. I'd rather use tire levers than screwdrivers and pop yer tube.
LOL, the reason I say it's good to avoid using levers - of any sort - is that they can pinch your tube too.
I can remove something like 9/10 tyres by hand (if necessary, but I usually use a lever on the tough ones); it's a simple matter of possessing mad skillz
