Any eccentric unit, hub or bb, will be relatively expensive but why should that be an issue? Sure, it's a problem if you cant afford it but this attitude that fixed gear must be cheap is daft. Like any aspect of the sport, you can do it cheap or you can spend more and get a better bike.
