The officer above disregards all the science that's been done that disagrees with his position. This forum is populated by the bicycle accessory consumers who of course will vote in the majority to bolster their feeling of "safety" with a piece of styrofoam on their head. The vast majority of the bicycle experience around the world contradicts him. There is NO added cost to society of lidless cyclists. I challenge ANYONE here to show any statistics on the number of head injury patients in long term care, put there because of helmetless bicycle riding. You all have "the helmet saved my life" stories, but for every one of those there's ten "I fell off lidless and walked away" stories. Helmets are unnecessary for safely riding a bicycle. True 40 years ago and true now.
