I wish I could go back to find where I said "You heard it here first..." with regard to smartphone saturation in the marketplace. Apple got there first, and now Samsung. They pay people millions of dollars to plan for events such as this, and it has happened repeatedly over the years. This should have surprised no one.
GOOG is next, but in a different way. Trying to force everyone to social media by killing Reader and iGoogle, then trying to force my pictures to G+ (there is a way around it, but it is not made obvious by Google). Monetizing a 'free' service is super easy in a society where everyone thirsts for attention, but the backlash that [STRIKE]invasion[/STRIKE] relinquishing of privacy causes is twice as damaging to the Company once the user base has had enough.
I can't wait for the day when social media is as obsolete as pay phones. That day is coming, my friends.
You heard it here first.
