I got a ride to work, with my bike on the car yesterday. I rode home in the high heat and humidity. I wore lightweight cotton trousers, which got pretty wet and dirty. I shouldn't wear those on the bike, especially in a light color. The ride is easy now. It's 10 miles along suburban streets in moderate traffic, and it's not hilly. This ride had a pretty stiff tailwind!

I rode in to work this morning. I'm wearing dark wool trousers, and it was much better. It was no hotter, and of course, I didn't look drenched. With this weather, I'm extremely careful not to ride too hard. I'm constantly shifting gears to make sure I'm not pedaling hard. Normally, I'm a masher, which isn't good for my knees' long-term health anyway.

I get NO HASSLES from drivers on NJ suburban streets! NJ drivers earn their reputation for terrible driving, but I don't see it when I'm on my bike. It's a very pleasant surprise.
