This is true in Germany as well, where camping is kind of like setting up a vacation dacha in a rustic areas; people even bring mini-lawnmowers to mow the tiny lawn in front of the RV or camper.

On the other hand, youth hostels cater very well to the needs of cyclists, even older ones.
