ah. set up for portacatena, then. That makes it a 70's vintage. someone can nail it down to just a little window now. Attached are pictures of regular reach and the older long reach brake levers. The newer ones date from about 1978, the older long reach ones date from 1971. I have known the original purchaser since he put the bike together, so I am sure of the date. I replaced the frameset when he sold it to me, but I changed nothing in the original group.

The regular reach lever is first, and you can see the extra air between the bar and the lever in the second photo. I thought this would be a bad idea, but in practice I hardly notice the difference.
