Its just a bike in the end so ride what you like. I am skeptical about opinions on these forums since some of these guys own shops and sell certain brands here...or straight up shilling by company bros.
State bicycle cant be that bad...have not seen one of their frames assplode yet. State bicycle does sound cooler than Mercier or Motobecane. BD house brands are generally looked down on from what I have read. Maybe...or at least state bicycle designs their own frames rather than BD who basically buys a design and slaps one of their bought out names on it. I would say go with state if you buy locally so you can get fitted...and go with bd as a last resort.
Besides the advice of getting fitted, the rest of your post is uninformed speculative gibberish. Seriously. You're operating on assumptions. The part I bolded in particular...it's obvious you are basing your uninformed opinion on the few bits of info you've picked up in your short few weeks on these forums and are now an "expert" right? State "designs" their bikes by figuring out what sells (gimmmicky "model" names and pretty hipster colors) and then asks a factory overseas to produce it. They use chaep no-name components, and their products are generic and trite. Hardly worth the praise you're showing them.
