Bikes: 2014 Giant Defy Advanced SL 1

Hopefully some people with a lot more experience with bikes will chime in, but to my newbie eyes, either that frame is too small for you, or the saddle is not set back far enough and the bars are set far too high on the adjustable stem.

Also, I'm not sure how a road bike will help you if this is the riding position you find most comfortable. Road bikes are based on a tripod stance where you sit further back, leaned forward with your back straight, with the bars much further in front of you and much lower so that your upper arm is close to 90 degrees to your back, and your elbows have at least a slight bend as they reach the hoods. This position is more like a tripod balanced on your feet with your saddle and hands carrying less of the weight (compared to other positions) and your feet a little more.

The way you have your bike set up currently is the total opposite extreme, something much more like the relaxed positioning of a comfort bike.
