I've been struggling with this lately. I have two hybrids (Trek FX 7.2/DS 8.3) and on both of them I had the LBS raise the handlebars and bring them closer to me to allow me to sit up more. Specifically due to getting the weight off my hands. My butt doesn't hurt, but I do get chafing due to a wider seat. I'm going to try a more narrow seat this week.

Even with this, my hands are going numb on the 20+ mile rides. To the point that the finger tips of my right hand are staying slightly numb for many hours after the ride is over. I would assume sitting up right more would help this, but not sure.
