The context of your comment is elusive. The TdF climbed Ventoux two days before us. This is the point with the signage where pictures are taken. We had to wait in line for our turn at the sign.
L'etape is an event when one mountain stage of the TdF is open to amateurs for racing and the experience. It was highly publicized on this blog a few years ago:
