Didn't read the article because it sounds like its based on stupid stereotypes about BMW drivers being oblivious, elitist jerks. What car you drive means nothing. I have owned 5 BMWs and currently drive a 528i. So what? They are amazing cars. The misconception is that they are some super-performance, hot-rod race car. They aren't. If you want speed go get a Mustang, Camaro, Challenger or some other American muscle car. BMWs are sporty luxury cars where the suspension, reliability and overall comfort package is more important than the engine (at least until you get up into the M category). I've seen way more duchey American muscle car drivers out there than BMWs. I'd say trucks are the worst actually.
Another thing that cracks me up is people who drive enormous trucks or some other late model car that cost $30,000+ who criticize BMWs for being so expensive. It's like "Oh, you drive a BMW...well la-de-dah, you are fancy". What they don't know is that you can get a sweet BMW for about half the price of that truck or Ford Taurus. They automatically assume all BMWs are super expensive. I can't tell you how many times I've told people I only paid about $10,000 for that M3 and you can get a really nice 3-series for about $6K.
