Little City Stage Race:
Points based stage race at altitude (5k+). TT I couldn't breathe. Numerous hits off the asthma inhaler, plus my allergy meds...nothing. Plus it was getting hot...rolling into the 90's. Final numbers were 30w+ down on what I would have expected. Worst TT finish ever, 10th. Afternoon crit my SRM was reading between 108-129 degrees. Added another med on top of things to try to get some relief. A bit better, teammate took 3 guys up the road countering my break that got caught, he ended up winning so he's 2nd on GC. Missed a two man chase that fired off with a WC driving it, couldn't quite make the bridge so ended up 4th in the field sprint.
Bad headache last night, rough night of sleep. Bleary would best describe my mental state of mind.
Checked the results this morning and rather than 10th, they had me 19th wiping out any chance of moving up (screwball points schedule that gave 80 points to the winner and 1 point from 16th on down).
It was 90 degrees at 7:30AM. I felt like ass. Rather than load up on pharma and go suffer in 100+ temps for not much or worse I bagged it. No reason to tear myself up. Pretty depressed at the whole thing.
If there's a bright spot the Scott Foil I just built is pretty awesome. So I guess there's a bright spot. Otherwise it's pretty crappy.
