To be clear: I'm all for rules such as (for example) if you're going to have a mens P12 race then you should offer a W Open... here in TX the rules say that if you want to offer TXCup points then you have to offer a full slate of categories.

I'm more stroopwaffel-ish when it comes to prize lists.

I think we should separate NRC / HC / International races into a different topic from the local amateur stuff. At the big league level, the sponsors front the prize money so it's truly up to the promoters to convince the checkbooks that the marginal ROI from adding another race (costs$) will be justified / paid back. There's a lot of chicken and egg there, as well as a lot of old school Euro viewpoints that I agree are slowing down (blocking) change.

Is it a "build it and they will come" situation? If yes, who's going to step up with deep wallets and invest, probably for several years and a lot of events that technically "lose money" until the fans catch on and sponsors can point to ROI?

My point was, though, as a typical self absorbed bike racing fan, who will click thru countless malware-laden bootleg streaming sites to see a 3rd tier Dutch kermesse in a choppy feed... I rarely watch top level women's racing unless it happens to have friends in it. Maybe I'm not the target demographic? But I'm certainly a hardcore fan of racing in general. So that's the issue here, how can women's racing position itself effectively, acknowledging that the fan base will have to be developed at least in part from totally new segments, since we can't count on the existing fan base to just add to their level of consumption.

HTH. Etc.
