Finished my IGH build (for now!)

After much fooling around with building up an IGH based on my old AO-8, I decided to take the plunge and convert my all stock Trek 600 to IGH - this also involved a simple switchover to 700C wheels, new bars, and of course installing the hub and shifting controls.

I am extremely happy with the result - the sport touring geometry of the Trek (not to mention the responsive and fairly light frame) combined with alloy wheels and decent brakes, makes the IGH experience very pleasant. The bike is light and responsive up hills (so the lack of few low gears is not an issue), and rolls along very smoothly and quickly.

Still to do - replace the quill pedals with something better, probably add fenders, fiddle with stem length and handlebar height a bit, and replace the tires with higher quality items.

One of the other threads similar to this discussed the use of the existing braze on (or not) for gear cable routing - I used the braze on and it has given no problems at all:
