Not what you asked, but do you enjoy riding?

I'm sure if you do, push yourself and ride alot, you'll get faster. 2 months riding is a great start, but it's not alot.

9 mph doesn't seem particularly fast, but I'm from the flatlands of eastern N.C. so I have no clue. I rode 32 miles today with a grand total of 178 feet of elevation.

If you want to compare, check out Strava. http://app.strava.com/segments/explo...p_type/terrain

Maybe find segments near where you ride, and check out the riders on the leaderboards to see what they're doing.

Also, if you can, check around local LBS for any group rides. I can't seem to push myself hard enough on my own, unless there's a threat of darkness, weather, etc.

Good luck, and welcome to the 41.
